Good evening,
This afternoon Andrew came round for a bit of X Wing fun. So to speak.
I broke out my 'Look after Wedge' list that I'm still trying out...
...while Andrew ran with Kath Scarlet (with Merc Co-pilot, Mangler cannons two proximity bombs and a seismic charge), a Tie Interceptor ace (whose name escapes me...you'll see why soon...) and Night Beast.
Anyhow, we set up, with Andrew spread out, and my three buds sticking together.
I immediately swing round to pick on the Tie I.
And pick on him I did. Well, Wedge did. With Proton Torpedoes.
Just like that.
Whoo hoo!
So Kath swoops in, runs into Biggs...
...and strips Wedge's shields.
Bother.
Still, Kyle was able to place an ion token on Kath.
Kath keeps coming, while Night Beast...thought the Rebs were doing something else!
More chunks out of Kath...and somehow Wedge survives!
Kyle also ioned the Tie.
Sweet!
The big K flies south, leaving a proximity mine for Wedge to trigger.
Which trigger he did. For two hull...leaving him with but one.
Yikes!
'Twasn't all bad though.
Boom!
And speaking of ioning...
Huzzah!
A sudden super nova explodes, bathing Wedge in dazzling splendor.
Which must have caught Biggs off guard...yeah that's it. That's why he threw blanks. Super nova. Yeah. That's it...
Anyhoo, Kath swings north...failing to get a bead on the big boys...
...who manage to do absolutely squat!
Squat, I tells ya!
And with Kath only having two hull left.
Arghh!
So Kath tries to gap it...
...but Wedge ain't having none of that!
Huzzah!
And a great game was had by all!
Thanks Andrew, I was sure I was going to be on a hiding to nothing. Perhaps my list does work!

Soontir's The Man...
...so long as Wedge isn't concentrating...
Good afternoon,
Subsequent from the last game, Bruce and I set up again, same field, same forces...and, on my part, same forgetfulness.
However this time I lined up my boys line abreast with Biggs in the middle. Less chance of Wedge flying into the back him or Kyle. Notice I said less chance, not no chance...
Bruce, seeing that the Rebs fly in exactly the same way that bricks don't, decided to fly around my flank.
And fly around my flank he did.
See, Wedge went a whole five turns before flying into the back of someone!
And so the furball begins.
Quite quickly Kyle gets separated from the Xs.
Still...
...he seemed to be looking after himself alright!
Huzzah! Gotta love them Ion Turrets!
Biggs continues circling that 'roid, while Wedge steps out of the fray for a turn. Bother it.
Unfortunately, what, with Biggs out yonder, Bruce was able to concentrate on Kyle.
And concentrate he did. With extreme prejudice!
Drats!
So, we were down to two to two.
Or make that two to one. Wedge shot first!
Huzzah!
'Twas at this point that Bruce thought that discretion was the better part of valour, and led me on a wild chase across the board.
Even almost off the board!
I had to double check that later with the Star Wars X Wing Christchurch Facebook Group. Yep, all good.
And still the chase continued.
But at least I was able to get the Two Amigos back together again.
It was at this point where Bruce admitted that he was trying to get my space bus' back into the asteroids.
I cut in and he finally commits...
...scratches some paint, and flies off again.
It was about here when I suddenly remembered that I hadn't been applying Wedge's ability through the entire evening so far.
Doh!
Again Wedge miss judges and flies into Biggs rather than K Turning.
Doh!
Alas and alack, although Biggs was pointing in the right direction...and he shot first, thanks to Squad Leader...
...well, it was bound to happen sooner or later!
Drats.
So now it was just down to the aces.
Again Wedge mis judges...
Doh!
...and Soontir finally has him just where he wants him!
Thanks for the games Bruce, they were a lot of fun. Just the thing to take the jaded mind off work for a while!

Biggs Dies First
Good afternoon,
Last night, after a day of school and reports, Bruce graciously came around for a game of X Wing. I was still keen to try out my 'Biggs Dies First' list...
...against an 'X Wings'll Never Catch Us' list.
So we threw down some 'roids and away we went.
Early on I misjudged my maneuvers and fly Wedge into the back of Kyle. Sigh,
And again! Arghh!
I was sure Wedge'd pop out in front. Ah well.
Kyle passed off a focus to Biggs who, with R2-F2, survives the first round of shooting.
Huzzah!
Also note that Whisper was still cloaked. Bruce was still coming to grips with just what a [glass] monster a Phantom can be.
We furball...
...well, Kyle does. The two amigos just drift on. All while Whisper flies past...
...I'm pretty sure that Kyle got real lucky there!
We separate...
...and come back in.
Finally, Wedge has a shot, so launches some Proton Torpedoes...
...and Boom! There goes Sonntir.
Huzzah!
More zipping thither and yon...this list doesn't really work with them all spread to the four winds...
...and really doesn't work when Biggs flies into an asteroid!
Drats!
Again, Wedge has no shot (he's base to base with Whisper)...
...so he tries to get round that rock to give Kyle a hand.
Boom! Too late!
At least Kyle had Ion'd Tur[d], who was by this time suffering a Pilot Skill 0 crit.
Wedge finally turns the corner...
...and catches Whisper with her pants down.
That doesn't sound right...with her cloak down. Hmm, that doesn't sound that much better...
Anyway, it was now down to Wedge and the Turd.
There never really was any doubt!
And all without using Wedge's ability to take off one agility die from his opponent. I just plumb forgot about it - I was concentrating too hard on him shooting first and trying to pass off that ability to a mate through Squad Leader!
Doh!
Lessons learnt? Keep them together, and flying line abreast. (And, after the next game, remember to use Wedge as Wedge, not just another X Wing jockey!)
