What I Did In My Holidays

Good evening,

My term break is pretty much over. School on Monday, but gotta get ready, so...here's what I did in my holidays!

They're assembled, undercoated, base coated, and wargame ready while I whittle away at their camo...

First up, my Panthers.

I actually finished two of these at the end of last holidays. I'm thinking of a simple green stripe for these, AKA Italy...

...and to make them look a touch different from my Pz IVs and Tigers.

I've also done the same my PSC Stug IIIs...

...and a couple of PAK 40s.

I'll do all these in the standard three tone scheme.

Lastly, some recon bikes.

Mostly all these need is to complete their bases.

Sorry for the poorly lit photos. I'll do better next time!

I also managed to get in one battle. A Spearhead stoush at Keith McNelly's place using his 6mm kit going up against Andrew, with Robin in support.

Robin using his phone to take pictures for his report, 'cause his phone's camera is better than his class one!

Man, these things are small!

And here comes the Typhoon proxy - a Fairy Battle!

Long story short - I tried to capture/defend objectives either side of the table with infantry brigades, holding a reserve of armour in the centre ready to be deployed to either flank. Andrew piled in the pressure on my left, I brought on my armour too late (and too constrained by terrain) to have any effect, and realised too late that he had no off table flank march coming in from my left.

Well and truly done, I was! Well played Andrew, well played!

Oh, and I also went to a local Lego display.

Yep, that's Mark, showing off a wee Brik Wars display with some mates.

That's Mark's Darlent - a cross between a Darlek and an Ent!

Back to the grindstone!

Nick

    1. Cheers Al. I'll slowly get them finished...probably in just over nine weeks time!

(Yay, a nine week term! Last chance to get some learning into them - Term 4's generally a write off once swimming and Athletics starts...)

    1. Thanks Paul.

Ain't got no decals, but I am looking forward to 'chipping' the finished product, 'specially the Stugs. It's just a matter of some judicious application of a pencil along the edges, isn't it?

    1. Thanks Sean. They're not finished yet, but are ready to go on the table should the opportunity arise.

Sounds like you had a great trip to San Diego. Fascinating stuff.

    2. And to see two carriers while striding around a third? Amazing!

  6. Chore! You were busy over your holidays. Me and my family are still on holiday on the Gold Coast so my dad and I won't be making any posts for a bit (to busy trying to forget the roller coasters).
    Cheers.

    1. Thanks. Not as busy as I would have liked though - only one game in two whole weeks!

    1. Cheers Peter. My Pz llls arrived this morning...only for me to realise that the Kiwis would have only met them early in the Italian campaign. Still, they can be added to Robin's when we SH the Eastern Front.

  8. Mate, your 20mm collection just keeps on growing.
That German armour looks the business too.

One game in two weeks is 100% more than me.
When do you blokes do your next Hordes tournament/get together/thingy?

    1. Tell me about it. Still, these Pz IIIs that have just arrived (and the 25 pounders that came with them) will do me for a while...though a couple of 17 pounders would be the bomb! Who makes them in metal over your way?

I didn't attend the annual HOTT Day in July event this year - I was on music at church, and, well...there's nothing I like more than grinding my axe at church!

  9. 17 pdrs? I think Britannia/Grubby tanks do a sturdy one, I also have one from a Revell/Matchbox kit. It may be worth shooting an email to Matt at Wartime Miniatures in Oz to see what he has in stock.
