Good afternoon,
Here is the completion of my German air power destined to fight over Greece and Crete. Eventually.
First my ME-109 that I finished last night.
Nice build, real pain in the but to paint! Used acrylics - painting very thin acrylic yellow atop German camo green and grey = many, many coats, sand downs and recoats to get looking reasonable.
The end product is good enough for me, and more than adequate for wargaming, but a true aircraft modeller would roll his eyes in derision!
Then on to the Stuka.
Again, those painted frames are less than perfect, but, well, they'll do the job.
Still think its smiling at me!
Nick

ReplyDeleteGreat work.
Funny you should mention the 109 and 110. You know my story behind the 109, but I've also been thinking about a 110 over the past week .. just because I like the look.

Thanks Robin.
DeleteI'll keep an eye out for a couple of cheap 110s...but I'm trying to dig up $130 for an overdrive pedal!
Well done Nick, I hope they hit some targets for you :)
ReplyDeleteWell, we'll see what we'll see!
DeleteYou all know this WW2 stuff started as a side project, right?! :-)
Lovely work on these beasts Nick!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rodger. Yeah, I'm pretty pleased with them. Even fairly close up!
DeleteNicely done Nick. You certainly catch the spirit and look of these two German mainstays.
ReplyDeleteI think the yellow looks smashing.
Keep up the good work...Said Paul eyeing up a Stuka...
Thanks Paul. Yeah, they didn't come out toe bad, eh?
DeleteI'm looking forward to see whet you make of yours. Which campaign are you painting it for?
I am thinking fairly generic myself...But the early to mid war yellow has captured my attention Nick!
DeleteI see those markings can be used for Southern Europe to early Russia campaigns so that may be my target.
Halfway through the build now.
Excellent! I was thinking I could also use it for an early Russian stoush. Though I'd have to use Robin's...which would put me on a hiding to nothing!
DeleteNice addition, lovely work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil. Now you've all got me wanting to play with the jolly things! :-) I wonder if I can use them in a quick Crossfire game...?
DeleteYeah, good work on those planes!
ReplyDeleteThanks Thomas. I'm glad they have been so well received!
DeleteGreat looking planes!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark. You know how Epic is Fantasy WWII? Fancy some 20mm WWII?
DeleteIt's interesting like most eras, but I've decided on a policy of disciplining myself to a few systems/periods for now, otherwise time, attention and money is just spread too thin.
DeleteI was kinda meaning playing a game with my toys... :-)
DeleteYeah thanks I figured but I don't have enough time even for my toys at the moment! :)
DeleteFair enough!
