The Sounds of Warbirds Over Wanaka, 2014

Good evening,

Just back from spending a week down in Central, here's what I did last Saturday.

(I took these clips not so much for the visuals, but rather for the sound...)

...and found that if I bunched all those clips together, my browser was having a spaz. So I've split them up.

  1. The sounds of WW1
  2. The sounds of WW2 Europe
  3. The sounds of WW2 over the Pacific
  4. The sounds of Post War New Zealand

    1. I'm glad you like 'em Roger. There is something about the sound of a Mustang overhead!

  2. Hello.
    Interesting sounds.
    Thank you for your videos.

I worked at the airport in 1984
The Last Finnish Vampire was transferred to another place. (200 km)
Long-departure runway, flew really low and very slow.
    Strange engine sound
    But it flew, however.
    Rifle would shoot down

    1. Cheers. I've always loved the Vampire. Apparently the RAF called them whistling wheelbarrows!

The vampire engine is nearly the same as the V-1 rocket.

    1. Yep, we're got a heap of warbirds in EnZed. Apparently one of the biggest collection of flying WWI a/c anywhere.

  4. Amazing !I'm going to say 'it's a small world' now, because my sister and brother in laws were there at the same time, and told us how the rest of NZ had amazing, sudden storms while the flying was going on.

    1. I was driving down on Friday and I thought the whole show was going to be cancelled - it was bucketing down! Funnily enough the weather cleared through the Lindas Pass and was relatively fine on Saturday, while the rest of the country got a real dousing.
