Good afternoon,
Finally I get to put these guys back, with the welcome addition of Little Big Man Studios' shield transfers. Or stickers really.
Bit tricky to get on in some cases. They've got this plastic film that you have to remove first to stick the transfers onto the shield (they're actually stickers at that point - once they are on, you wet the paper backing to reveal the finished "transfer"), and, well, sometimes that plastic film is next to impossible to peel off.
Ah well, they still look better than just the coloured shields that they were.
And speaking of Little Man Ban Studios shield transfers, I've finally applied them to my first double ranked Macedonian pike element.
Overall, I'm quite pleased with the result.
Only 11 more double elements to go. And four more Later Hoplite elements. And a bazillion other unpainted figures...
Nick
The shield decals are a brilliant addition to them Nick, they look great!
ReplyDeleteThanks John. They won't bear up to much close scrutin, but they should look good across the table.
DeleteBrilliant work! Looks really good :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark. It'll take a while yet to finish them all!
DeleteVery nice looking units, your hoplites are impressive! I think I recognize some Hät minis on which you changed the position of the shield... they're much better looking that way, but it must have been difficult, I guess. Are you a plastic surgeon ? :D
ReplyDeleteHa! Thanks Phil. Yep, they're all HaT with their shields cut off their backs and bent forward. With not a few cuts on my thumb along the way.
DeleteSame with the Phalangites. All 96 of them! (Well minus the metals...)
Can't believe it... ok, I send you mine, could you, PLEASE, transform them as well ?? And by the way, I never visited New Zealand, can I bring them myself ? :D
DeleteYou're a funny bloke! :-) They're not actually that hard to do, it just requires a bit of patience...and some plasters! I'd be more than happy to show you, either here in En Zed, or over a coffee in France. I shall eagerly wait by our letterbox for your invitatio...and the aeroplane ticket!
DeleteOh God, I wrote that on the 2nd of April and not on the 1st !!! :D
DeleteSeriously, I will try this afternoon if I find enough time. A Hoplite phalanx looks much better with the shields to the front. I will post pictures as soon as possible.
Excellent!
DeleteGreat job Nick, love your beautiful and impressive hoplites...
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil. The shield transfers draw the eye...
DeleteNice idea moving the shields, they look much better.
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul. Yes. Took a while, but I think it was worth it.
DeleteThey look excellent!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tony. Not really a patch on yours, but...they look right at home with the rest of my stuff!
DeleteVery nice hoplites and the shields are brillant !
ReplyDeleteThanks Stefan. The hoplites have come out quite well...so long as you don't look at their backs where I have to carve away their shields to bring them to the front!
