Shermans and Carrier Finished...

...mostly. Ok, so they're sans decals, but, well, I ain't got none for the tanks, and I kinda forgot for the carrier 'till after I weathered it!

Good morning,

Here, in their highlighted and 'weathered' (or at least 'dusty-ed') final state are my latest Allied vehicles. (The 'weathering', for lack of a better term, looks much better in the plastic, than in the photos.)

First up, the Bren Gun Carrier, sans Bren gun.

Note how high the driver is sitting up compared with the driving position in the clip below. Which speaks to me of a 1/76 model repackaged as 1/72 (as it was) by simply throwing in some 1/72 figures.

Still, it'll do 'till either the Plastic Soldier Company bring out theirs, or Stan brings out his!

And now the wee jeep[s]. The second jeep ain't got no front wheels, but I thought I could use it as a bit of terrain/scenery.

(Post script - Paul from Plastic Warriors suggested that I take the spares off both to replace the missing front wheels on one. Ha! Brilliant!)

Next, the big boys. And they are considerably bigger than the rest. The difference between 1/72 and 1/76 toys...

Lastly, the 6 pounder.

Still gotta base it, which in itself presents a dilemma. Do I base it with a 40mm frontage like the rest of the Crossfire/Spear Head stuff, and have the crew loose so's I can leave the model abandoned (take away the crew) when it is 'destroyed' in games terms, or do I put it on a bigger base complete with crew? I'm leaning towards the former idea myself, but Andy's big German gun looks way cool on the bigger base, and he's got single based crew with it, so...not sure.

Iron Sky...

...looks soooo coooll!!

Good evening,

Quietly hacking away at the WW2 Allied armour (done, pretty much) and artillery (still gotta be based) and stuff, but I saw this on another wargame blog and thought...

...that's so freak'n coooll!!

WW2 Vehicles Work In Progress

Good evening,

Over the last wee while I've been pottering away with these...

My recent purchase, alluded to last time, is a Bren Gun Carrier.

I'm wanting to add a Bren Gun and gunner once I get the figures Stan's waiting for me to pick up.

Rats! Isn't it funny that the camera picks up stuff you've missed?! Gotta do those webbing straps...and get rid of that stray hair!

The 6 Pounder that it came with is assembled, but not painted yet.

Next, a couple of Armour Fast Shermans that I've had for a while but thought, since I was painting vehicles, I'd give them a go.

Lastly a wee jeep.

And I mean wee. Got given it, so I'm not entirely sure, but I'm pretty sure it's 1/76 rather than 1/72. (Same probably applies to the Bren Gun Carrier. Package says 1/72, but I think it's more likely the 1/76 kit with a couple of 1/72 crew figures thrown in...)

I've painted these with a green grey base coat, liberal Badab Black wash, another coat of the green grey atop, with a bit of a lightened highlight atop. Not entirely convinced that the end result is commiserate with the effort, but, well...perhaps it is!

Got to apply the decals to the carrier, then I'll dry-brush some mud.

These have been a pretty cool way to pass the time!

Bren Gun Carrier

Good evening,

Should be ironing for the coming week, but, well...

Recently won me a 1/72 Airfix Bren Gun Carrier and 6 Pndr off Trade Me, and am slowly pulling the kit together. Found this on You Tube...

...I didn't know they had Chev V8s in 'em! They sound so much cooler than I imagined!

This is obviously an Aussie one, though the ones made here in En Zed were identical.

Now to find a spare Bren gun to stick through the front...
