Cargo Sleds

Good afternoon,

Keeping with the 3D printing theme, here are some more that I prepared earlier.

The current Star Wars Edge of the Empire adventure that I'm running with my lad is FFG's published supplement Beyond the Rim, a scene in which entails a possible cargo sled chase through the docking bays - shhh, don't tell Matt!

Anyway, I found this on Thingiverse, and...voila!

The unfinished droids are also 3D printed, though I have subsequently resized the R4 droid, and put it on a base - as it is at the moment it's just a touch too big. Hopefully, when I get the print back, along with an R5, it will be more compatible, size wize, with my two Wizards of the Coast astromechs.

Oh, and these sleds don't make half bad X Wing damage deck trays!

Courier Speeder

Good afternoon,

Over this last term I have further experimented with the wonders of 3D printing. Thingiverse is a fantastic repository of cool bits and pieces!

Case in point...this. A V-35 Courier Speeder. My Edge of the Empire party needed a four seater speeder, so...

This is actually my second print - I decided that the first was too small, so sized it roughly to shoulder height in response to watching A New Hope accompanied by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra live - specifically so that the top of the roof is shoulder height.

I have subsequently found this. Ha, those black bits should be windows! (And it's a two seater? Not mine!)

Notice the layering of the print underneath. I filled in the underside of the nose, the roof and the back with Squadron Green Putty modelling filler to smooth it out.

Of course it's painted red, because, as everyone knows...the red ones go faster!

I also applied some rudimentary wear and tear to it.

That blue speeder above is a Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Miniature, purchased specifically for SW RPG.

I have also printed some repulsor lift cargo sleds, that came with these nifty stands. So I printed an extra one, drilled a hole, and...

...voila!

It's All A Bit Silly, Really

Good afternoon,

Recently I headed off to camp with my class. I got back and discovered that I was entitled to a Camp Bonus of $NZ 19.95 per day so...yay! Just under $60 was coming my way. Sweet.

Having played a Star Wars Edge of the Empire RPG session the Friday night beforehand wherein two of my players were role playing Bothans for which I didn't have the miniatures...I got a little carried away...

$NZ 80 later (opps! I miscalculated the exchange rate between En Zed and the States!), I got a bunch of Bothans, Humans (including Denagar...only to realise that I'd already had one. Opps!), Rodians, Trandoshans (including Bosk - @ $NZ 18! Opps!), a double-up Twi'lek (opps!), a double-up IG-88 (opps!)...and Orar Ergalo!

So now I've got miniatures for folks who want to play Bothans...

...Droids...

(...though I can't really see anyone wanting to play a Gonk Droid! I really need some 3PO units...)

...Humans...

...Jeoff the Jawa...

...Rhodians...

...Trandoshans...

...Twi'leks...

...and Wookies.

I'm just missing a Gand or two to complete the PC races in the Edge of the Empire core rulebook.

As stated above, I also added to my Bounty Hunters...

...my small pile of [nominal] "security officers"...

...and one or two to my Fringe Dwellers.

These Tatooine Dwellers had been collected some years before.

Oh, and not to be out done, I also have a small number of Imperials that my PCs may encounter from time to time.

I also have a comparable number of Rebel soldiers. You know how it is. You think, hey, these Wizards of the Coast figs are relatively cheap second hand, I've always wanted to wargame Star Wars...I even made some rules for them. Played a few games, but, well...

Still, now I've got a heap of toys to RPG with!

Final Elements For The Summer

Good evening,

And here are my final efforts for my summer holidays. My completed Marian Roman Legionaries/Polybian Roman Principes, and their Italian Allies, all dipped up, dulled down and based.

And since the dip was about to be brought back out, I quickly finished/base coated these Later Achaemenid Persian Auxilia...

(I'm still waiting for the cash for the parched straw for their bases)

...and then brought out some of my pre-painted Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Miniatures, the ones that looked particularly blah, and dipped (and sprayed) them as well.

They've made quite a difference on some, not so much on the others. But that Duros has turned out beautifully!

So, since it seemed to work on them...

...I brought out some more! Worked a treat on those Rebel Honour Guards, the Quarren and those Jawa. Especially the one in the lighter robe.

So that brings up my grand total of painted figures to...nine more than last count?

28 elements, comprising of...

• 112 infantry or rider figures
• 28 horses
• 1 chariot, and
• 1 undead dog/giant rat

...as near as I can figure it, over six weeks. Plus a few games here and there, including Star Wars Edge of the Empire RPG this afternoon, in which some of these very figures made an appearance.

I've just got off Skype with The Sarge, where we're trying to role play my solo adventure together. So, without much further adue we present to you...Chapter Three of The Rescue of Orar Ergalo. A continuing work in progress.

The Rescue of Orar Ergalo

A solo adventure for FFG's Star Wars Edge of the Empire RPG.

Good evening,

Well, the holidays are upon us, so for 10 or so (or less) days I've got a bit of time off.

Now I could be modeling (those EA Persians ain't gonna paint themselves!), but, well, I sunk a bunch of money into Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars Edge of the Empire RPG with the hope that it could be a bit of a regular thing with the small group that comes round home on Friday evenings.

'Cept, being winter and general busyness and all, they ain't been.

So, I thought I might try running a game solo, like, 'cause...I've always wanted to! I found RPGSolo.com, which has the capacity of not only coming up with some ideas but also has the ability to write an adventure log alongside it. In Text. I started doing just that, but, as I was fishing around for details to fill out the background, I found a good few pretty pictures that I could use, and, as I like pretty pictures...I've decided to journal my adventure here.

So, for those who are interested...The Rescue of Orar Ergalo. A work in progress.

And welcome to Star Wars Day! Well, over on this side of the date line anyway.

Hence, these pics of an X Wing game we played earlier this week.










I got completely done over!

Further to the Star Wars theme, we also had another session in our Star Wars Roleplaying Game (West End Games, Ed 1 [D6]) adventure, where we had to escape from a detention centre on a recently re-purposed (by the Imperials) Republic era communications station by going through an agricultural facility. A nice big fire fight was had by all with a group of mercenaries/gangsters of dubious association, including the use of a thermal detonator - which we discovered was a small fusion device. A nuke, if you please!

Speaking of reasons to celebrate this fine autumn day, I also finished my second Tiger...




...and the Stug IIIs that I had ordered from PSC arrived.




However, the assembly instructions that came with it were not very clear as to which bit was which, so I went back to refer to this to identify which guns to use.


I'll be using the 75mm with the square mantlet and the loader's gun shield rather than the remote barbette.
